Actually it does seem kinda far-fetched for them to extend credit to some one whom they cant collect from....what did you have to do to get it? Seems like it would be a lose-lose situation for CC companies....they're in it to steal you blind not give up their money to non residents,,,JMO:idea:

Well, after following this for 2 days, you have to realize 2 things. Banks are in the business to make money. High interest rates and fees keep them alive. BofA is a major player in the banking industry that has gone from sound and secure, to possible buyout, back to being on top. They know what it takes to bank. They see an opportunity to profit and are willing to take an investment risk on this promo. Thats business. The other thing to look at in their response is the Patriot Act portion. By FEDERAL LAW, there isn't a bank in the country that will EVER open an account without proper identifcation. Are you kidding? BofA likes its business and isn't going to compromise its ability to generate profits by sidestepping the Patriot Act to get a few credit cards out there for a demographic that is generally barely above the poverty level of this country.

It seems to me it doesnt really matter anyway, It is pretty easy these days for anyone to get a stolen SS number. I wonder what type of research if any they do on the SS number the person presents. Either way, I am still happy to cancel the B of A account since I have never really liked them as a company anyway.

WTF? Doesn't really matter? You're an ass that didn't make a blip on their radar. You cried about the illegals getting cards and they give you a 100% logical response and now, you have no fire left in your fight. Ok, so you're pissed for what reason? They wouldn't extend your credit? What is it?

changing banks is pretty easy and if your one of their customers who are not happy with the way they do business.. then its time to close your accounts. Im sure if they have alot of their legal customers pulling out they may have to stop and rethink the whole idea.

Well that clears it up for me, and I hope you all come around .....BofA is only doing this to HELP OUT, man I had it all wrong, I thought they were making another attempt to make money, in desperate times.
    They only want to help!!!!

If I had a B of A account I would pull out, I don't. But I would move on. I think them trying to help out the border bandits is pure bullshit!

Okay, so according to their own letter... whats new??
If this is as simple as they want it to appear, why the pilot program.
I think ALL banks will offer credit cards to anyone meeting the criteria they listed.
I think this is a bs way for them to save face.
The pilot program WAS directed at illegals...period. They may be altering that now to not lose customers.

Heres something for you guys to think about, if you're smart enough to think outside the box. If BofA is blatantly marketing this to illegals, you guys are getting mad at a company that is going to take advantage of an opportunity that our country is going to allow illegals to continue to infiltrate the nation. Any businessowner in here knows an advantage when he/she sees it. You are getting mad at a company, not the source of the problem. Does "wrong tree" and "barking" mean anything to you guys?
