Whats up with some jets having a box shaped cover over the drive/pump. I thought it was only certain brands until I saw a berk with it. Is it some type of protection cover, is it functional, can it be removed easily???? Thanks guys.

Yep, on my Taylor it is a Swim Step. Everyone who has gotten in my boat from the water for 27 years has stood, climbed, sat on, and jumped off it. Sure beats trying to step on a wet pump bowl and/or rideplate.
