v drive hulls??

Ok, I am thinking of crossing to the darkside and wondering about v-drive hulls, I am looking toward a v bottom as the water gets really rough around here. Can the day cruiser with v drives say in the 20 foot range be made to go fast?? otherwise what kind of hull should I be looking for??

If I get a 20 or 21 footer, do you have to run a trans with it? can you put a c6 in one?
Can you get neutral without a autotrans?
One more thang, what kinda speed could I get with a 600 to 650 hp blown ford.

"IF" one was to take the same brand of hull and make one with an outdrive, another with V-Drive and another with a jet.....and use the same horsepower in each of the three hulls what would be the difference in performance speed? CURIOUS !
