496 Mag Sepentine Belt Routing

I have a 496 mag and I have noticed that on some models/years of the 496 the serpentine belt is routed differently. Any ideas, reasons or changes to the engine that Merc has made??

In 2005 Merc switched to a spring loaded belt tensioner from the previous adjustable style.

Looks like you have a Whipple on your 496? How much boost are you running and have you found it to be a good value? Are you glad you did it?

I run 5lbs of boost and I'm very happy with it. I'm probably going to put one on the 8.1 in my truck too. Best bang for the buck and turn-key too.
