I'm getting ready soon to start tackling finishing the floor in the SWTD. It has the parquet floors on the tunnel tops and under the gunnels. The center sponson and the bilge is black gel. I'm going to re-gel the center sponson and bilge black again and then flowcoat the entire floor with clear gel and the Duratec Clear Hi-gloss additive mixed 1 to 1.
My question is, the tops of the tunnels and other parts of the floor where it is clear gel and the parquet could be seen is very wavy. You can notice the waves with the reflection on the surface. Am I better off trying to block sand the floors down smooth and then applying the clear gel with Duratec additive to the smoothed surface? Or should I just apply the flowcoat to the wavy floor surface and it level itself out perfectly smooth? Would block sanding the floor be a waste of time? Of course, I'm trying to achieve the best results possible. Thanks!
