Thread: marine PS pump = automotive PS pump?

I'm going from a 1983 chevy V8 to a Vortec V8 while also going from log manifolds to center riser, so the most efficient way (that I've found) to get all the accessory drives in the right place is to go serpentine.
Since I have no marine salvage places at my disposal, I was going to get a serpentine setup off a vortec truck, then put a marine alt on it. I can get a power steering pump from Mercruiser for $238  or I could get the car version for $30. Are they the same pressure? Will they interchange? Any thoughts about the serpentine setup?

It depends on whether the Fittings are the Right 1s, in the Right Places.......
    Pressures,+ Flows are the same

Dont forget to get a different water pump, serpentine vortec setup uses
    reverse rotation waterpump.

Thanks for the heads up on the waterpump, but I just transferred the old style pulleys and brackets from the old 305, so its standard rotation.
