Thread: alternat coolant routing

    I've had a few boats before but..... can the cooling water from the sea pump be plumbed to the rear of the exhaust manifold. Then out the front of the exhaust manifold. then into the engine block, out the intake manifold and into the exhaust riser to dump. this makes the exhaust alot cooler but will it cause the exhaust logs to crack are there other problems that could arise

    Done it that way a few times up here where we where running in cooler water trying to preheat it a bit so the motor could get running up to temp.If you have a thermostat system with a bypass thats working ok I wouldnt recomend doing as where youre at you could have problems running to hot. NG

    My boat is currently plumbed that way and I haven't had any problems.
