I have a wj in my kona.My pump has the modification done and is running a Berk "B" impeller.I was told that it was an old racing trick.
The previous owner claimed to be around 700hp with his motor ,which He kept ,when He sold Me the boat.He said it performed very well,although I personally have not tested it,due to My 489 being built.We will see this summer!.......Hal
