To keep this post short, I totally fuk't up my gears, shafts, coupler, and bell housing in my old bravo last winter. Bought a new Bravo 1 with IMCO gears and about 5 hrs of use. The old one was a mid pick-up and the new one is a low-water. Last weekend I was out on the lake and got enough mud in to clog my oil cooler. The marine is real low. My old outdrive housing is in fine shape and it has a nose cone installed already.
My questions are, would I be better off adding a sea strainer and a nose cone to the current outdrive or try to swap gears. Or I could do a thru hull pick-up with a strainer and a nose cone.
Which would be the best for long term??? I don't boat much at small, shallow lakes.
I run the lowwater pick-up for the drive for the drive cooling only and a offshore for the motor and intercooler with a sea strainer.
Works for me
