I put racing plugs in my 7.3,the turbo on all the time but when I need a little more power I just flip the blower on!

I'd upgrade to MSD ignition also.

If you run octane booster does it work better?

Compression is pretty high in a diesel. Probably should run race fuel to be safe.

AV-gas works better, its cleaner so you don't worry about sludge... also I like to mix a little nitro fuel from my r/c car to give it a little boost..
