Thread: Handheld GPS mounts??

  1. #1
    4day!!
Does anybody use these mounts for their GPS on the boat? If so do you like it and does it keep the gps unit stable and not come off in rough water? Do any stores in so cal carry these?
Was thinking about this one to mount to the rail in front of the dash area

or this one this one to mount on the dash, any one know if this is held to the dash using adhesive velcro pads?

The heat doesn't melt the adhesive pad off? And does the gps unit stay secure in big water?

The pad is stuck on there good. Never had it fall off and like I said its been on there for years. Just make sure you mount it on a clean smooth surface. That mount also adjusts into many positions so depending on how you set it up will depend if if shakes around at all. Mine works great.

I just clip mine to the steering wheel with the belt clip on the back of the Garmin case. This the best photo I have right now, but I might be able to find something better later.

Makes it quick and easy to put away (or hide). I was going to get a mount, but I really like it this way. It occationally gets confused or reads strange numbers when you're spinning the wheel fast, but for distance and current speed, it works great. I run the wire down from the steering wheel to a 12volt outlet next to my leg.

i have that same case and use to do the same thing, but it kind of got in the way and wasn't really tight on there.
