Putting together a big block Chevy for a 69 Sanger, (full roller), wondering what type of oil people on here use, some of the old school guys I know use 40 wt. Seems a little thick for me, with all of the new and improved oils out there, just wanted some feedback, thank you, i apprechiate it.

One of the things I use to decide on oil is bearing clearances. If you go for a little wider of a clearance the thicker oils might be perfect for you. If they are not too loose then a strait thirty weight could work well. And if you are on the tight side then go with the zero weight synthetic. What type of fuel are you running?

It also depends on the use, pleasure, drag race, endurance, high or low rpm's, oil cooler. But whatever the use the oil needs to be between 180-210 degrees to do it's job!..
