That don't sound good....
Started the boat for the first time this year. On the trailer. It started right up, but I had a poping sound coming from the odd side. I though it was out of time, but it wasn't, so I pulled the plugs and #3 plug looked like you hit it with a hammer. I have never had any clearance problems in the past. There was no noise coming from the motor, like clanging, just the poping from the exhaust. This motor has been in for 12 years. What do you think? Thanks

Look for bearing material in the filter.
Sounds like a bent valve?
something went down the intake and into the cylinder, a bolt or nut perhaps?
Hmmmm, how come none of you smartass's are telling him to rotate the air in the tires like you would me.........
I suspect that a valve seat fell out and is hanging around the valve. This is usually also an indication of a crack running into the seat pocket.
