I had a leak in the port (left) fiberglass tank on my Spectra 20'. Got some good used IMCO aluminum tanks. Here's what I had to do:
1. Drain the tank
2. Cut out the old tank. Used Sawzall and long flexible blade.
3. Ground the cut areas smooth.
4. Cut some plywood mounts about 4" x 16"
5. Drilled out holes in tank side flaps and plywood mounts
6. Installed 5/16' X 1 1/2" carraige bolts through the mounts
7. Lined up the tank, marked forward location
8. Glassed in the front mount, let set
9. Installed tank on front mount
10. Lined up back mount, marked location
11. Took out tank
12. Glassed in back mount, let set
13. Bolted in tank, washers and Nylock nuts
14. Sprayed in foam behind and under the tank for support

Now I need to put in a new floor and switch from the hand throttle to foot pedal throttle.

I just spotted the foam in a few key places to keep the tank steady and not have all the stress on the mounts. Besides, out here in the desert things don't stay wet for too long.

Let's see. Built many surfboards as a kid, so I'm no stranger to fiberglass work. Spent 27 1/2 years in the Coast Guard (13 Active, 14 Reserve) as a Machinery Technician. Retired in 2002 as a E-8 (Senior Chief). Law Enforcement was just a collateral duty. Engineering was my main focus.

It works by moving a cable to raise and lower the jet nozzle, but you already knew that.
Actually it works pretty well in the way I mounted it. Not on the floor for me or the wife to jam our toes on, and no cable running back on the deck.It also makes sure I have my hands on the wheel. The side mount is one reason I'm switching to a foot pedal. Can work the diverter and throttle at the same time.
