O.k. I'm running a BBC .030 over 10:1 comp.,990 heads a .598 lift Comp cam,Team G intake with an 850 D.P.Timing is set @ 38 degrees total @ 3,600 rpm's..The problem is at cruising speed the water temp is 160 untill I put it to the wood. Then it jumps to 190 then drops back down after I let off.I replaced the the water pump impeller but it still does it.My plumbing from my water pump to the heads is 1/2" i.d. S.S. tubing. Are these too small.I live in northwest Montana so water is very cool. Please help.

On my crusier I have #12 to the pump and through the oil cooler to a T then # 10 through the headers then into the block and # 8 out to the tips. the motor runs at about 175 in very warm water. Lake water here can get to 85 or more.

    Thunderbutt,
Just got back from the lake ( 5 miles) and ran the piss out this thing. It crept a smidge past 190 only after I shut down for a minute(beer thirty)only to cool right back down.I will keep an eye on it.Thanks for your time.

    FlatRat,
Everything sounds cool, you won't have a problem at 190. Have run v-drives for many years even warmer than that (a little) with no problems. Getting warmer when you hammer it is a normal condition. Sounds like you got a cool setup.
