Got the PM's...check your mail....here is the deal with the RR's...they are BOTH hiring, and have been for a while, and will continue to do so, as people start to retire in massive numbers soon....there are two major RR's in Socal.
    1. Union Pacific, or UP
    2. Burlington NOrthern Santa Fe, or BNSF
Either one can be accessed through a website, here they are...
    1. http://www.uprr.com/employment/index.shtml
    2.http://www.bnsf.com/careers/
For those of you wanting to stay in LA, BNSF is a better run railroad, but UP pays a LOT more....we are getting our act together, but it will take a bit more time...we simply have too many trains and not enough track...over the next few years, that will all change.....
For those of you wanting to move out of state, BNSF is your choice, UP has instituted a "hub" type agreement, meaning you are locked in to the LA sub for your career....BNSF on the other hand, will allow you to transfer to some exotic place called Needles..running trains east to Flagstaff, or west to Barstow....the Needles boys have it made...you have all seen or driven around the yard there, maybe had lunch at the Mexican food place across the street..<great food, BTW> nice place to work...and you should make 60-80,000 a year while you are at it....not that you will ever be home...before you go running out, let me remind you that RRing is a 24/7 proposition, and most of us do around a hundred hours a week...no holidays, no set days off, forget your kids birthdays, and make sure to call your wife like I do to let her know you are on your way home so she can get rid of the guy in your bed and clean the sheets for ya before ya get home...it is NOT an easy lifestyle, NOT easy work, especially out in the desert east of Barstow...
For those of you still readiing, there is nothing you need to do to train, the RR will train you , and pay you for that training. They want you to learn it thier way. Please do NOT be late for the interview, should you get one, make sure you have a stable work history, and tell them you never take days off, you work all the time....they are looking for availability....most important, be drug free, and I mean this...if the drugs don't kill you, the trains will..and you will never hear it coming...good luck, see you out there...PM me, let me know if you get the interview.....
My office....this is a CN unit, from up north in Canuckland, but they are all basically the same...

The UP version from the outside....these are the ones I get a lot....435,000 pounds, 4400HP, air conditioned and sound proof...and a nice smooth ride. This four unit set is coming down off Cajon Pass into San Bernadino. The location is Verdamont, which can be seen from the 215 freeway...

And one more, blasting through Manix, Ca. just south of Indio, on it's way to Yuma, Az. and then on to Texas, Arkansas, and eventually New Orleans, or Atlanta...first it has to wind it's way through the nuts at Glamis... :rollside:
    http://www2.***boat.com/forums/attac...id=11144&stc=1
And the last one for you guys thinking about hiring out...this is you, lantern in hand, safety vest on, trying to stay warm, working on getting this outbound power up against it's train, so guys like me can get on and go... :coffeycup

So UP pays better than BNSF now has this just recently changed? I had always heard from friends and family members that have worked for both companies that BNSF paid better than UP. From what I had heard UP never wanted to pay their claims.

BNSF has kinda put guys on salarysomething like 1900 a half...our guys are not paid like that....the LA basin is flat rated for most jobs...paying you better..as for claims..they pay them, it's all in how you submit them......
