The Southern California Speedboat Club's 2007 Bluewater Resort & Casino "Spring Classic" April 21 & 22 saw some incredible racing throughout the weekend but in the end Mother Nature had other plans and trumped what was setting up to be truly spectacular set of final heats. After running on schedule for most of Sunday despite several incidents and lot's of tow in's, the wind kicked up with 6 heats to go and never let up (from approx. 2:30 p.m. on) and forced the cancellation of what would have been fantastic finals. Once agian our numbers continue to grow. The races brought 7 new rookies into the racing ranks from J Hydro to the Nostalgia ranks. Over 100 teams were on hand for the "Spring Classic" and race action during the calm before the wind provided excellent entertainment to all in attendence.

The cool thing about GN racing right now is you can finish on the podium with out an engine! Something to consider when you are choosing a class to come a race!I think the next race we are going to run 2 ors & see if we can finish at least a 3rd!:messedup:

After the dust settled it was the "Traveling Man" himself Mr. Dale Hernandez, Jr. taking 1st place overall showing that consistency is key to success. 2nd place goes to Chris Kenner in the PS-681 "Loud & Proud II" with Mike Lee in PS-89 "Flat Crazy taking 3rd place overall. We are glad to have Rick Ortega coming out in the newly purchased PS-32 and he is doing a great job in his Rookie Season and finished an impressive 4th place overall for the weekend. Bad wind conditions called off the racing action early on Sunday so only the two qualifying heats were run before the wind had its day. Overall series points have been updated. I'm looking for a good picture of Rick Ortega's boat running. If someone has a picture please send an e-mail to wootonj@mutualinsagcy.com so that I can get it posted.
I want to congratulate Dennis Rankin on taking 1st place overall at Bluewater. Great job Dennis!

Ross' results may be more accurate, that is why I asked him to break it down. I think I know what was changed, and why, but it was wrong to change it. I'll go deeper if, and when, Ross posts........Ray
