LMAO.
damn it. This is Kalifornia... how dare you drive ONLY the speed limit ... can't you see we are in a hurry
We hold to the posted speed limits (with others) towing along the route from the Safeway to the North traffic signal (Parker grill/Kahunas).
Innacurate reading with oversized tires, I realize we're still exceeding the limit though the speedo is on the posted speed.
Seems some behind us get irritated and pass even over the double yellow and really kick it in the ass, giving us the one finger wave as they speed by.
At what point over the speed limit do you start writing?

He's talking Parker (arizona) but I get the same problem in the same spot. Right there in front of the indian casino. (Blue Water) go figure.

To help answer your question after towing my boat to Laughlin for 18 years I finally got one of those towing over 55 MPH tickets just before I entered Needles. When the officer pulled me over I noticed that my speed had gotten away from me a little as I was coming down the hill into Needles. I was towing at 75 MPH and the cop told me to keep it around 65 MPH. So 65 MPH is the magic number for me now. I wasnt real happy with the ticket since I usually tow less than 75 MPH but at least he only wrote it up for 65 MPH.
BC once told me that 5 over would get a warning and 10 over is a ticky, with his dept.........................he couldn't tell me what CRIT does.
Keep it under 10 and you should be ok unless the cop is a total dick. I never cite under 10 mph, and prefer it to be 15 but everybody is different.
Pretty much 5 MPH over is OK. 10 will get you stopped. BUT There's been a slew of fatal accidents in that stretch, one just a week or so ago. Enforcement will be stepped up, so the closer you are to the limit, the better. A lot of folks ignoring the new lights at the Safeway Plaza and Casino entrance, too.
I have people passing me like I'm standing still while I drive in that stretch at 60+. Damn admin vehicle. No lights, no markings.
This weekend I paced a guy towing a boat up to 90, before I broke off. He was still pulling away. Called it in, but all the units north of there were tied up.
Finally got him a true 90 mile an hour boat!
Absolutely amazes me. You're just asking for trouble at that kind of speed. First, not too many speed-rated tires that I have seen for boat trailers, so you are begging for one (or more) of those POS marathon tires to come apart on you. Two, if you ever had to come down in a hurry from that kind of speed with a trailer, you'd be two states over before stopping.
Not saying that I haven't fractured a speed limit or two in my time and I am not saying I run at 65/70 all the way out to Havasu. But, I'm not towing, and when I am, I can guarantee you it's not at 90 mph.
Wow, common sense is in short supply sometimes.
