Has anyone installed one on their boat?? Does the center knob clear the billet waterproof covers... Seems like it sticks out quite a bit. Also is there a remote that controls the Ipods out that will work with this.. Thanks,

Great unit...but I happen to be biased because I work for the company!
Should clear no problem...that knob doesn't stick out much more than a regular
one from us. I have the same unit in my boat; works great. Get the new
Sirius portable with the Alpine KCA-SC100 adapter, you will have iPod-style
search capability for your Sirius radio too

i have this head unit sitting in the garage, have not installed it yet. the knob does not stick out that far, i dont think there will be a problem clearing the cover. if you want to check it out more, go to alpines website, and watch the video.

Then tell them they should have made it a preamp and used the space for the HD tuner inside the deck !
I do like how they've gone to what appears to be the traditional source buttons on the left of the faceplate

And given every $350+ MSRP head unit at least 8 volt preout instead of 1 volt.
Seems like it would be cheaper to produce everything with at least 4v...

i just put it in last week... I love it. I use it with a 5th gen Ipod. Works flawlessly.

Another nice feature is the optional remote (http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...RUE-M1EX&tab=D)

They are wireless water resistant and float. They work off of RF so they don’t need line of sight like IR does. Plus you can use up to eight.

JENKDICK on the boards just put that in his Ultra... That is a kick ass deck. That is the one that doesn't have a CD right? If so that is the one he has. He has a billet cover and there were some clearance problems. PM him and he will give you the low down.

I havnt tried it yet but you can also hook up USB (thumb) drives to it too. Heres a good review (http://reviews.cnet.com/Alpine_iDA_X...-32425827.html) on CNET.
