The Alpha works just fine.... Bravo 3 just means twice the prop to replace
Don't be fooled by speed claims either. A 246 will run 42ish and a 266 will run 38 TOPS.
Good luck
I am looking for a used JC tritoon for the Havasu House. The one I want has the mercruiser 350 mag. Most have either an Alpha or Bravo III drive. Being a jet guy I don't know shit about IO's. What is the difference with the Alpha and Bravo III and what should I look for on the drives? Any suggestions?
Thanks…

Thanks Todd.
I would like to find a 246. Most of the used market has the 266's.
I haven't seen any 246's around here. I know Boat Brokers had a couple of 266 used last week.
Speaking of SAFA1 ( James ) was going to pick one up....
I believe the B3 is havier duty and will carry the load better. I have the B3 on my 21' open bow and really like it. I have driven my hull with both standard Bravo and the B3 and I like the two prop version much better. I'm not sure how much if a difference it will make on a pontoon. I'm curious what others will say.
For a Toon...I would get the III. Your not looking for speed. Get something with some bite.
got the bravo III w/5.7mpi on mine it pulls hard out of the hole and gets planed fast...its my first one but i like it!
Bravo absolutley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NSF
B3....Up on plane and go, slow cruise and manuevering sharper. Damn I don't believe I've answered a boat question in a while in the SB.....
Thank you all.
When Froggy dials in that twin jet deck boat Ill be all over it.
