sounds like something you could tackle yourself.
Well first off howdy!!! Being my first post and all.. What I got is a 20' Hawaiian day cruiser... the boat itself is in really great shape..except for the wiring. Answer me this why is it someone can take 40 wires and tape the ends off because they go nowhere and 2 that go to everything? So here is my project before the weekend, rewire the boat front to back(beings I removed every last scrap of wire in it) and install the new gages (Autometer marine)..So come tommorrow it will be West Marine here I come!!!
sounds like something you could tackle yourself.
Just re-did the wiring in my 21' daycruser. The Hardin-Marine harness is really nice.
I am a recovering cheapskate. I rewired mine last year and bought individual spools of wire. It came out fine, but it would have been well worth it to buy a harness.
Somewhere there is a really cool color chart for what the industry uses for wiring up boats. I'll see if I can find it.
Good to see another Hawaiian survivor And Welcome Aboard
This is a link to one but its not the one I remember.

God help me if I ever have a boat with that much crap
Well the wiring is almost all done.. I am too a recovering cheapskate... I ordered all my wire thru work and well of course paid by them.. all marine grade stuff... now I am off to get a new alternator.. But has anyone ever noticed how a simple task like changing the tach turns into an epic undertaking of rewire/re-carb/re-gage?
How much is a wiring harness?

this is off the hardin-marine website...
Personally i'd rather do it myself... then again I kinda enjoy it.. I'm the kind of person that will park it under a shade tree listen to the radio taking my sweet time... I'm never in any real hurry.
