I've been kicking around the idea of completing this and anxious to have it in the Gullwing. Just need to exhaust all corners in my current motor and set up. It will be interesting to see what performance gains with a few more ponies and a lot less weight. Hard to believe the block still wieghed 136 lbs with sleeves, studs and caps (on our industrial digital scale), not too much less than the traditional Gen IV iron block.

I think you've left yourself no choice but to polish the block. Thats some nice hardware. What are the specs?

Nice stuff. I say go for it and park the blown motor.
I know of 4 18' gullwings with aluminum engines, all of them run well.
Only problem is its kinda late to start a project like that.

Roughly 70 pounds is the difference if I remember correctly. Aftermarket iron blocks are heavier than GM blocks.
Thats a pricey 70 lbs. I think Ill take up Meth and drop 70 lbs. that way.
What brand are the heads and manifold?

polish the block? Sometimes the more you polish the more pain you inflict when it starts to dull. I know it would look cool but I will probablly leave with the satin finish. specs? 565 c.i. 4.25 stroke, 6.385 rod, 4.600 bore.

Oh yea the rocket fuel diet was the other option, much more economical. Most likely I will run the blower motor a few more trips. The cylinder heads in the picture are the dart 18 degree big chiefs, & the intake is T.R.E designed for that specific head.
