Your head question has been addressed in Gear Heads in the past.
The crank number comes up on mortec.com (www.mortec.com) but doesn't say whether it is cast or forged. There is, however, a very easy way to tell. There is a "parting line" that runs along the crank. If it is a very narrow ridge, the crank is cast. If it is about 1/2" wide and fairly smooth, it is forged. A cast crank has a much coarser finish(much like the surface of a block or head) than a forged crank.
