What does the group think of Marlin boats as a whole? I've got a chance to but an '86, 18 footer with a bad BBC. Berkley pump w/hyd place div., twin 10 gal. fuel tanks, you know, typical jet boat. The hull seems lighter than my previous Tahiti's and Avenger. Anyone had problems with this hull? $2,000.00 for the boat and another 3500 for the motor I figure. Thank you for the input.
I knew it a guy with an 18' Marlin wit an olds in it. It wasn't a full stringer hull and it was pretty light. He had just had it regeled a couple years ago and the hull cracks started coming through already. I don't know if they're good but I think they're cheap for a reason
I'll bet your right. I would hope it would make a good 65 MPH boat.
It should be able to without too much trouble I thinhk. The one I saw with an olds had a diverter on it, and it did bout 60 with a stock olds, so wit a BBC with some mods, shouldnt be too much trouble
Here's my 18' Marlin...still working on gettin' it together. Had a 455 Olds in it before teardown (pulled straight out of a car) and I built a marine Chevy 454 for it. Calculated for 500HP (5500 RPMS)/500 ft lbs (4500 RPMs).
