The best way to get longetivity from this deal is to use a ventilated prop, so the prop will be loose coming on plane. This is normally used as a crutch to get an underpowered boat up on plane easier. You don't need it for that, but it will soften any driveline shock at the low end, thats where the Big Block will tend to hurt things. I have run a 400+ horsepower small block in front of an Alpha for several years. no problemo. Use less prop pitch than the motor will turn also, this lessens shock too, as does useing a small block or outboard diameter prop. The lesser blade area keeps the load down. TIMINATOR
