what Chris said ... off the side of the block, the oil filter side about 1/2 way back there is either a plug or a valve installed into a water jacket ... you can install the gauge there ...

I'm guessing Busby is referring to the block drain, just above the pan rail/oil galley.

This might be another todo on my list of things for my boat. How much water pressure do I aim for?
I run mine off the manifold. I have petcocks in my block drain holes and can feel the grit in them when I open and close them. Only 2 trips on the new motor and already got sand in there.
