What specifcally are you trying to restore to original setting? You don't need to crash it. You can restore settings on alot of your system.

The WIFI part of it is completely screwed. Its not pinging anything. One day it works just fine, then the whole family is giving me BS about why its not. I tried doing a system restore to a specific date, but it only bolds July 4th. After repeated tech calls to the router people, the ISP, and the comp maufacturer, its showing signal at the laptop, but not sending or receiving anything.
