I am replacing my swimming pool pump and motor and I need to know how I can tell if my feed to the motor is 115v or 230v. The new pump and motor came from the factory set for 230v, but there is a switch you can move if I have 115v. Thanks in advance for the advice.

you would have 2 legs of 110 (black)and a nutral(white) if its 230v, also a double breaker, on 110 you sould only have one black and one white, (and a ground)

Look at the old pump. It should say if it's 110 or 220.
You can also check the breaker box. Hopefully the pool pump breaker is labled, so you know which one to turn off. As mentioned, if 110 it will have a single breaker. 220 - double breaker.
I just installed a new 1 HP pump/motor in my folk's pool. 110v. One white wire. 1 black wire. 1 ground.

Grab something that you know is 110. Feel the jolt . Now go grab the wires to your pump. Does it feel the same?? . I havn't had one yet that was 110.

If you are just replacing a pump.. the new one should be pre-set for compatability (depending on age). If you are upgrading or switching to a different manufacturer, then you need to look at you breaker box, your breaker should show what voltage it is.
PM me if you have any questions, we install new pumps daily........

1 HP? I think my cordless screwdriver is more then that. We recommend a minimum of 1.5 on anything just for decent flow (which is critical in maintaining balanced water) as long as their plumbing will handle it. Just makes it easier to maintain.
But hey.. if you are looking to moonlight a little..we might have some work for you, if you can put pumps in.

Just switched my 1HP pump out for a new 3/4 HP one (both 220v). Lot's more flow than my old one, very satisfied.
