514 build scat crank, H beam rods forged pistons, roller cam.Looking for 500 to 550hp.
Whats max RPMs can I run this at and how long.
Will I need to run a girdle on the mains or a 4 bolt set up.
Is there any oiling thing to look out for like block offs or open up passages.
Whats the max compression on super unleaded pump gas.
Any clearance problems with a Milodon jet boat oil pan.
    Thanks

There is a lot more info, that you need to supply. 500-550 HP is not a problem but at what RPM range? 3000,3500 or 5,000-5500. What heads and intake manifold are you going to run? You don't need the roller cam if your goal is just 525 HP. How long do you need to run it at max RPM's in your jet boat? And 9.75:-11:1 compression is not a problem depending on the heads you choose?
What do you think your cruising rpm's should be and where do you want your Max rpm's to be?
Depending on the cam and heads/intake combo you'll be able to rev that to 6,500 if that's what you want to do.But at those rpm's you'll be way beyond your 550 hp goal. Are you looking at build a HP engine above 5,200 rpm's or a Torque monster below 5,200 rpms'?
I made 710 HP at 6,200 rpm's out of a 512 Ford w/ an off set ground cast crank, 10.25:1 comp. with a 2 bolt block w/stud kit. We ran a 250 HP Nos system on top of that with no problems for 2 years.

Like to be in the 5000 rpm max range.
Performer RPM heads 95cc and intake.
    cruising rpm 4000 to 4500
wide open till I beat the boat next to me.
probably leaning toward a torque monster and a AA impeller instead of a A.
I will be running Logs and snails exhaust.

You should probably build your engine for max power at 5,500 rpm's.
I have seen two or three different types of snails. Some are more restrictive than others you want to use the best free flowing ones you can get your hands on. Might even want to extrude-hone them for the best flow you can get out of them.
You need to find a good head guy that can really make those intake ports work for you with out making them to large.
An Eldelbrock Victor or a RPM Air Gap with a Holley 950HP carb should be about correct. I'm not sure if the Air Gap can flow enough for the 514, but then again you are not going to rev it over 5,500 so it might be fine and with the logs and snails probably ok. Some of the Air Flow experts may have an opinion on that.

Milodon pan with that long pickup doesn't work well. Used to starve the top end with that combo. Changed to a Canton with trap doors and center pick up and never had another problem. I machined some custom splayed main caps out of 4140 and ran a 4.150 forged crank and .400 long BBC lunati pro mod rods. That sleeper twin turbo combo ran great. Nearly 900 ft-lbs from 3200 rpm to 5800 rpm. Fun to have in a jet boat.
