Tell me about it. I have a 175 on the back of my Nordic. On my worst day I put 12 gallons of gas after running up and down Parker strip all day. I would love to see a pic of your boat. My buddy and I are looking for people with older outboards.
I have an 86 19ft Eliminator sprint with an Erude 150xp V6. It's yellow, orange, and candy apple red (like so many Eliminators of it's era) with a little burgandy and black striping as well. When I figure out how to post pics I'll post some. It gets a lot of looks and nice comments every time I take it out.
A couple of weeks ago I went out all day and ran it around in some really crappy and rough water at castiac. It used 8 gal of gas for the day.

Runs like new but only because my dad's a psycho with matinence so he gave me a sweet ride.
I've got an 82, 18 Foot Charger DL, its powered by a 1980 200HP Merc. The motor was bought brand new and is run hard every season and still runs great. Everytime I talk to my buddies on the lake at the start of the boating season, they always ask me if its still the original motor, or If I rebuilt it over the winter, but I give em the same answer every year. "It may be old, but it still runs like new"

So how about some more pictures? devil
BP1330:
I always see classic V-drives and jets. What happened to all the classic outboards. Esp with gas prices I would figure these would be gaining in popularity? Why is it everone says outboards get good MPG everyone I have ever drove got shit for MPG. Am I wrong or what?
BP 1330 your boat is gorgeous. The old Kona 19' Makais were beautiful and well built. A 200hp bracketed outboard on one would make a wonderful well-balanced rig. Just my $.02. wink
