I bought the cyberhome DVR 1600. Looks like it is a POS. I can make dvds, but they will not play in most dvd players. I bought this mostly to transfer home movies from VHS and mini-dv. I'd to buy another one that works. Any thoughts? Oh yeah, I believe I have turned off regional coding and I am using the correct type, dvd+r.

DVD+R don't play on anything, you need to use DVD-R.
Yep I've seen several players that refuse to recognize a DVD+R. However all my copies err backups are on dvd+r, but my player will work with them.
If the recording isn't "Finalized" nothing short of a recorder or a PC will access the data.
    Best of Luck.
