The supervisor of the state Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement's anti-gang unit was charged Tuesday with selling the sex-aid drug Cialis to an undercover Long Beach police officer.
Henry Kim, a former Los Angeles policeman, was arrested Aug. 11 after allegedly agreeing to sell 50 of the erectile dysfunction pills for $250 to the undercover officer, who responded to an ad on the Craigslist.
The Long Beach City Attorney's Office agreed to drop four misdemeanor counts against Kim, clearing the way for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office to charge him with a felony for allegedly showing a false California driver's license and a misdemeanor charge of dispensing and furnishing drugs.
Kim is due at the Long Beach courthouse on Sept. 6.
The 40-year-old Los Angeles resident worked as a Los Angeles police officer from 1989 to 1997. In August 1998, he was hired by the state and, in October 2004, was promoted to special agent supervisor.
Kim, who is based in Commerce, is on administrative leave from his job with the state agency.
