Yes but the smaller gear should be on the output and the large on the input(top)
Is it possible for the top and bottom gears (1.12's) in a Casale split case to be switched around?
If they can be switched around and were what would happen?
Which gear belongs on top/input gear?
Yes but the smaller gear should be on the output and the large on the input(top)
Instead of being overdriven now you would be underdriven. You would have a drive ratio of .88 to 1. In other words the prop would be turning only 88% of one turn when the engine turns one revolution
So would it make harder for the engine to rev up or would the rpm's be high and top speed be low?
RPM's high - speed low.
OOOOH sounds fun! A vdrive with a gob load of power and a super short gear. You should be able to launch that thing right out of the water about 4 to 5 feet in the air

bet you could launch some valve train parts and maybe a rod or 2.
