    Looking to plan a trip next year to Tahoe never been there but I got a few questions.. When is the warmest time to go?? I have a hookup on a timeshare and they have two locations one is on the south shore of Tahoe Zephyr Cove to be exact, and the other is on Tramway Dr in Stateline Nv which area is the best to stay I am planning on taking the boat and which is the nicest docks or Marinas and Launch ramps and also which has some night life around those areas?? And about how far away are they from these areas are they?? any help would be appreciated.

    Not too familiar with Zepher Cove but think that the Tramway drive thing is the Ridge,about 10 minutes or so from the casinos...have a friend that owns there,we've stayed there a couple times...
    Let me know,would love to get together...

    If the lake is up, there are many activities throughout Lake Tahoe.
    I believe Tahoe Zephyr Cove has its own marina, just check conditions before you go to plan final activities.here are a few areas we enjoy motoring and picnicing
    -sunnyside (north west side of Lake) lunch and walk the area
    -GarWoods (North end of Lake) lunch and walk the area
    -sand harbor, incline area (north east side) great swimming area
    -Emerald Bay (south west) great hiking and sightseeing

    We spend a week in the keys every summer, many choices depending on needs and budget. First week in August gets you great weather, Hot August nights in Reno, and the classic wood boat show at various locations on the lake throughout the week.

    Hello all;
    Something to remember is that "warm" is a relative term at Tahoe. That is one of the coldest lakes in CA. I have scuba dove in the lake before in July, it was in the high 60's to low 70's on the surface but there is a thermalcline just under the surface. If you get into an area that its mixed, think 50's. On a side note there is a second thermalcline down a little deeper, around 70' give or take, that can drop into the 40's or even high 30's.
    Overall it is a beautiful lake to boat on, but a little chilly to swim in. Also think about the tune of your engine at altitude. The friends I was with didn't and their boat ran like crap, this screwed up the plans to tour the entire lake.
    Easy solution, anchor more, tour less, drink/party more.
    Good times
