I would support mandatory service over a draft.
But what has to be done has to be done.

I voted no for a draft, but feel 2 year required service for those not attending college would serve them well.
At 19, I needed some direction, and self disciplne! I joined the navy, and left behind a area deep in recession (Michigan). After 22 years, I retired in 2003.
I was a Aircraft Mechanic, I had not only got out of endless go nowhere jobs,
I was able to see the world, Including my current job, I have been to over 45 different countries. Including 2 trips to Iraq!
It is unfortunate that the men and women of the armed forces get caught up in the politics of war. we have the most advanced, best equipped, and trained fighting force in the world.
