OK. LET'S HAVE A SURVEY. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THESE THINGS TO CUT LOOSE. I HAVE 8 HOURS ON MINE AND STILL CAN'T GET IT ABOUVE 5200-5600 RPM. MANY FELLOW BOATERS HAVE TOLD ME 15 HOURS, SOME AS LITTLE AS 5 HRS (TOBY). I SPOKE WITH MERCURY RACING TODAY AND THEY SAID ABOUT 2 HOURS????? I KNOW I KNOW. I SHOULD BE PATIENT. PROBABLY 5 MINUTES AWAY. MERCURY TOLD ME I SHOULD TAKE IT BACK TO LAKELAND AND HAVE THEM TEST THE PERCENTAGE OF POWER. 70% OR 100% IS THE QUESTION I GUESS.

Took me 2 hours to get over 5000rpm. At 4.5 hours they went to 6000rpm. At 5.5 hour I was at 6300. I haven't gone over 6300 and now have 15 hours on the motors. Can you post Mercury Racings telephone #. I would like to call and find out how I can get to 6800rpm's. Is anyone getting 6800. if so, what props?

WHAT PROP ARE YOU RUNNING AND WHAT SIZE IS YOUR BOAT.

mine was about the same dealo as Jrockets....about two hours to get over 4500 and now at 7-8 hours im all of 7000. I was told that EVERY new 300x is different and will release at different times. But after 15 hours I would think it should have released by now. Maybe yours is just alot lighter than mine and working alot less to maintain the same speed wink

YOU WANT THE MOTOR TO BE CLOSE TO THE LIMITER WHEN YOUR FOOT IS 100% IN TO THE THROTTLE. YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO PROP OUTBOARDS SO THE MOTOR CAN TURN THE PROP, IN OUR CASE, CLOSE TO 6800-7100 RPM OR YOUR PUTTING TO MUCH STRESS ON THE MOTOR.

I've got a DCB F26. Running 34x15 3 bladed cleavers. 6300rpms is the max so far.

IF YOU RUN LET'S SAY 30'S AND THE ENGINE STILL WON'T TURN ABOVE 6300 RPM. THEN IT MAY BE AN ECU PROBLEM. I KNOW THAT MERCURY PUT OUT A BUNK SET OF 300X'S THAT WOULD NOT REV ABOVE THAT 6300 RANGE. I GUESS THEY CAN HOOK UP THE MOTORS COMPUTER AND SEE WHAT PERCENTAGE RANGE OF POWER THE BOATS ENGINE IS RUNNING AT (DREW???). LET US KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.

I'm pretty sure mine did not release until I had about 15 hrs. You have plenty of time to figure it out, just get on the water and burn some hours down. If you have access to a 24 pitch, it might be an easier break-in prop.
Once you get past 15 hrs, then you'll know something. I would not try to seek remedy until that time myself, other than a smaller pitched prop.
