A friend of mine is putting a plug gap of 45 thousands on a big block chevwith a vertex mag. I used to have a joe Hunt mag 35 years ago and thought I gapped plugs at half that or less. If the gap is 45 , does it do any damage to parts, hurt mag , Etc. -----Jimmy D.

I have always gapped at .018 but the variance depends on the amount of cylinder pressure you have...more pressure=less gap!
