More like 12-15
BIG discussion at work about Ford Powerstroke MPG.
One of the guys just bought a new 08 Powerstroke F250 4x4 Crew Cab Lariat, fully loaded and lifted with 20" wheels.
What kind of MPG are folks getting with the new Powerstroke, especially lifted & 4x4?
I'm saying around town and local freeway that rig is going to crappy MGP just like a big V8 gas motor. Others tell tales of averaging 17-20 mpg around town.
Any input is greatly appreciated.

those guys getting 17-20 mpg are full of shit. as was said 12-15 you might see 17-20 on the freeway if you keep it under 60 unloaded.
Is the 08 chevy better or worse?
My 2002 F350 7.3 I get around 12-15 around town on the Highway I have gotten the best of 18. My son has a 97 F-250 7.3 2wd he gets about the same around town but gets about 17-20 on the highway depending on how he drives, and he has 4.10 gears.
stock diesels get decent milage if you keep them stock and stay in the 60 MPH range. My Duramax LLY w/ 6sp allison with 38's was averaging 10.5 on the computer read out, so with the speedo error, probably 11-11.5. My LBZ w/ 37's is getting slightly better.
When I said 12-15 that is on my 08 F450 the f250 may be getting better because of weight but I dont think it would be that much better. My old truck witch was an 05 F350 would get around 15-17. But I will say this the more miles I get on the truck the better it seems and also the power seems to be getting better to.
I have an 06 F250,3'' lift, 35 tires, cat back 4'' and get a solid 15.5 MPG CITY with a little frwy mixed in. On the hwy I get 19, towing I get 14.5. Also have the Superchip set at economy 80HP bump.

(All)...the new Diesels are down on the MPG numbers. Thanks to all the emissions crap now covering the engines. Don't believe the high BS numbers.
I've heard reports that the new trucks don't get the mileage that the older trucks get. My 02 7.3 dually 2WD, manual with 4.30 gears got 15.5 stock, with a 4 inch exhaust, air induction kit, and Edge tuner it is getting 20.1 on the country roads and hwy under 60. If i run it up to 70 i drop back to 16.2. If I tow my 30' horse trailer (19000 lbs combined weight) I drop to 11 at 70 and can still see 13.4 at 60. If I keep the truck, I'll add an aftermarket overdrive and I expect to see 24 under 60mph and over 20 at 70mph.
