PARIS - The McLaren team was fined $100 million and stripped of its points in the constructorsÂ’ standings Thursday in the spying scandal that has rocked the sport
McLaren, which leads the current driversÂ’ and constructorsÂ’ standings, was punished by the World Motor Sports Council for allegedly using leaked secret technical documents belonging to F1 rival Ferrari.
Team drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, currently 1-2 in the championship standings, were not punished and can continue to compete for the season title.

100 million = if you could count a thousand dollars a day it would take you almost 274 years to totally count that much.

Even for F1 that seems steep....I don't see them spending billions each year per team.

I read/heard it many places that ferrai makes more of F1 then it does off selling cars.
It's strange they would strip the constuctor's points and not the driver's since they are essentially one in the same. Are they saying the drivers didn't benefit from the spying but the team did? Doesn't make sense to me other than as a way to keep the drivers race exciting to the end of the season.
Complete story was on MSN sports.......constructors did the cheating, nothing to do with the drivers is all I can assume.
so the drivers are driving cheater cars?????
In the repsonse the FIA gave it said that the drivers where involved as well:
