This year we are going to all meet in SB Cove at 2:30pm for an Unoffical Photo Shoot (don't be late). For those interested after gathering for the photo shoot I'll be heading to the marina to pick up a cold beverage (Please be careful). This is not a race/poker run/or event, and safe boating practices apply. :jawdrop:
If space permits, SB Cove is the place, but some may want or need to setup camp at the flats. Last year the lake was much higher, and shoreline parking was restricted by high waterline. Erosion from recent rains made travel along the shoreline impossible other than those with 4x4's and experienced rock crawels.
This year will be great, and SB Cove is where ACBR is focus.
There is a launch ramp next to SB Cove, and also a launch ramp at the south end, near the main entrance. Recent pictures can be viewed on this thread (page 2). http://www.***boat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163699
Directions are fairly easy, but beware when traveling through Scottsdale on Pima road. There are at least two Photo Rader (Speed limit is 40-50mph). I take the 101 Fwy to Pima Rd. and go north about 18 miles to Cave Creek Road. Turn right on Cave Creek road and follow the signs. About 7 miles up Cave Creek you'll need to turn right again into the Tonto National Forest. Another 11 miles to Bartlett Lake. If you've never been to Bartlett Lake, you'll be impressed at how far north the Phoenix area has developed. Most of the homes on the way are over a million. The last gas station other than the marina is at Pinicale Peak Rd and Pima Rd. (expect a few pennies more a gallon)
When you see this sign at Bartlett lake, you will need to turn left:

This is a rolling curvy road for about 3 miles. Be careful since there is sand and small rocks on this road, and can make a quick stop a slide into home base and ruin your day at the lake.
Follow the signs to SB Cove. You might want to park above and plan a route to you final place along the shoreline. Don't be afraid to ask to pull in next to a fellow ***boater, as many of use will try to plan ahead when we get there to save a few spaces around us.
