I don't understand how a big company like McDonalds can get away with hiring illegals. It's not like they pay you in cash.

to answer your Q shockwavebob, many business employers (In SanFransicko is all i know) are presented with phoney ss numbers from the employees and it takes about 4-6 months for the employers to be called on the carpet by the local gov because of an incorrect number presented by the employees. The employee is then told that the number is invalid or incorrect so then the employee goes and secures another phoney number and the cycle starts again. The employer cannot even come close to making an accusation or they will be in court. It is unbelievable how this underground works and how we have become so tollerant to this lawlessness just to be PC.
I am all for legal imigration, like my grandparents, but illegal is just plain illegal and we need to make a stand and stop the lack of control at the borders (north and south) As you know, many cities are turning into a 3rd world countriy with 3rd world laws putting real legal americans lives at risk.
Sure hope we find a solution or the quality of life in america will be reduced to the likes of the 3rd world...unless you are in the elite class.
