Thread: Smooth Bottom..

I have a question for the bottom guys. I have a Canyon flat that has lost some of the filler in the gap between the plates and bottom of the hull. This is not a crack, but a gap. It is a small space that follows the plates along the bottom of the hull where they meet. It was suggested to me to use fiberglass body filler with "short strands" from Napa. I would like to know if this is the correct direction to go or if there is another product that is better. Thanks..

Short Strand Fiberglass filler will work jest fine for what you are doing...

Although the filler will work, an epoxy of some kind will last longer. I would suggest either Sea-Goin 'Poxy Putty, or West System with micro balloons mixed in it. No matter what you use, make sure you dig out all the loose old stuff, and clean out the gap with the edge of some rough sand paper and clean it well before you apply anything.
