    What is the correct timing for 2.6 gt 85
    Flexflywheel,exhaust cut,no limit,92 pump, no air box cover, 65 main,& 65/70 air temp?
    Runs ok @20.
    What do you think?

    I think maybe 30 is to much timing.
    Seized # 6 cyl,should have lelt it @ 20.
    What do yeh think?

    sorry i missed you!
    the factory timing was 30 deg.
    i would'nt run it any higher than 27-28 tops w/o av gas/race gas.but you already know that.when you rebuild it 27 degs. ,nothing less than 92 oct. fuel
    p.s. up the mains to 68-70 jets

    They tell me 26 for constant wfo running and 28 for short bursts. And to start out with 72s on the mains. You have extra reeds? Different cages?

    The extra reed, from LAND&SEA has a ss reed stop & 2 extra petals @ the bottom of the stock cage. This makes it a 6 petal reed gage.This 235 will rev @ 7800 with lower pitch props .

    Hey guys -
    I'm running a 2.6 that was built as a drag motor and I was told to never run it past 26 degrees. But then again, the cranking compression is 175 and I'm running 110 race gas also. The advance stop nut loosened up and let the timing go to 30 and I melted down 2 pistons so 30 doesn't work I guess.
    I would think that the performance gain from 26 to 28 wouldn't be worth the chance of a meltdown and actually I run at 24 to 25 all the time just to be safe. It's too expensive to be replacing pistons all the time.
