Thread: Fuel Consumption: Merc 469HO vs. Merc 525

I think the only true comparison would be both motors in the same type of boat otherwise you have weight, hull, length, etc, etc coming into play.
On the other hand i'd think with more HP you can run the same speeds at lower RPM's thus actually burning less fuel and not as hard on the engine. That's what I told my wife anyway as i'm doing the 496 to 525 swap in 2 weeks. Thanks Ultra!

Between my Magic DB with a 496 and my Eliminator with a 525 I think the Eliminator actually sees a little better fuel consumption. I would say the Magic weighed more so that might be the reasoning behind it.

Sooner or later you'll upgrade to bigger , don't bother molesting your new boat . Next time step up to a Magnum like this one . it will put you in the speed range you desire

Thanks. They have results for my boat with the same power I currently have. Looks like 4000 RPMs is my sweet spot. Normally I have been running 3700-3800.

Damn that was quick. You really turned into a little bitch less than 1 month of being married. At least I made it 6 weeks after being married before I got soft. Faster is better.

    Preaching to the quire..........
The GTO got the first rounds of mods this weekend. Should be good for low 12's before the blower goes on:devil:
I also know that a duck is a duck and that thing was designed to be a luxary cruiser not a 75+ mph boat. I honrestly think it would be a better investment to order a new 26' Ultra Stealth with a 525 from J/W.
Best of both worlds and you wont loose as much $$ in the long run

    Not So Fast
My boat with the 496HO was at 47-48mph with a 24P bravo 4 blade. With the HP 500 26P Bravo 4 blade I'm at 53-54 same rpms if that helps. NSF

    alright.
    Thats it.
If you get 525's in that wave maker then I will no longer be able to keep up with you.
    So...
get a deal on 3 525's and we will put one in the aluma crusier.
