OK, so know that I've got my tranny questions answered by the helpful members here, thanks, let me stretch my welcome with another question(s)...
In my 75 Hallet 21' cruiser, I'm yanking the Olds/Velvet Drive set-up, (anyone interested?) and going with a 460BBC/T400 package. For anyone that has a similar deal, can you please provide me the dimension from the transom to the front motor mounts? It seems like I could go all the way aft until I run into clearance issues with the alternator, etc, but I realize there's a balance point here somewheres.

Put your motor package as far back to the transom as possible. You can't get enough weight to the rear to offset the termendous deck weight you have on the front half of your boat.----PALHAL
