Sorry for the delay on these. The media center wasn't liking me for some reason last night and I got tired and said screw it. Anyhow, here are just a couple of the shots from Powell last week. We launched out of the Stateline marina because Wahweap was full. We primarily stayed in Friendship cove and used that as a base of ops to explore the lower 3rd of the lake. I only got to go as far north as bouy 51 so I'm already looking forward to anonther trip. BTW, I didn't upload any pictures of the houseboat, but the thing kicked ass at 55' and everything you could possibly want short of a kegerator. Thanks to the Ashcraft familia for being such accomodating hosts.

What?! No kegerator?! How rude!!! lol.
The pics are bitchin. I bet you had a blast there. I'd love to go to Powell, but it would be a hell of a trip, towing the Heatseeker that far.
    Maybe someday...

Great pictures! I was there two weeks ago. There is nothing better for boating. At around mile marker 69 starts the ESCALANTE RIVER ARM.There are great canyons and coves back in there. We parked our houseboat at the very end of the arm(+- 15 miles back) on a huge sandy beach for 4 nights. I cannot wait to go back!

They're nice to look at to give you a vague idea, but the lake is one of those things that you have to be on to really grasp. As far as the low water situation. Its down around 36 feet or so from normal according to the NPS rangers. I posted a shot of Glen canyon dam, and then the canyon on the other side(non lake side) to give folks an idea of how deep the main river channel is even when its 30' down. You can check it out at http://www.banderlog.com/dcforum/DCForumID1/1216.html

Did you leave from Wahweap or the other marina to the north of Dangling rope? The pictures I should have snapped were of a 50' houseboat in the canyon at Rainbow bridge. If you went down that far, you know that the left turn off of the main canyon is no wider than 20' and choppy as hell. I would have loved to see them sneak that houseboat through the crack.
I'm waaaaay stoked on the place and will be making plans to head up there again next year, though I don't know if I'll be lucky enough to go with the same group and on the same houseboat.
