We have one - love it. We added lockers f/r with 5.19 gears, 33's & a 6" lift. The thing will go just about anywhere. Only thing I have trouble with is big / steep sand hills, it doesn't have the power to keep the momentum. I think a chevy v6 with an auto trans is in our future. One other thing - forget the A/C if you're @ the river / or install an oversized radiator. A/C makes them overheat really easy.
Last year remember seeing one for sale with a Buick GN engine in one.
the guy i built that grey one for.. is doing a diesel rabbit conversion.. with a turbo. supposed to have tons of power.. ang get crazy mpg
i have had a few of them ,a friend has one with a 1.6L and auto trans, 2 transfer cases, and ps, its like driving a caddy, goes anywhere ,he has lockers, and 5-1 gears in one t-case, 35"bfg's, amazing rig
i have a buddy .. the rolls in a group of 20 of them... they go everywhere.. pretty fun.. like a street legal rhino.. lol

That one was a Prototype....
That would be the vehicle of choice on the beaches in Baja. Goes anywhere on a quart of gas. M
