Whats going on here - looks like the exhaust comes forward?

That boat has an I/O and the motor sits too far back for the exhaust to mount normally I would guess...
I know its rated to spin to 5800. After I forked over the 7600 bucks trust me I read through the specs. I would say 5600 would be a sweet spot. Everytime you post you make me come up a couple hundred rpm's.
Solution=12 Degree split case with taller gears. I probably need about 15's wouldn't you say?

The C-500 is a 12* so the change over shouldn't be too bad. I have a 12* taking up space in my garage. Let me know if you want to change over, I have bandsaw, mill and lathe taking up space also. Have C-500 with 22 gears also.
After reading this post and others similar during the past couple years, you've reinforced what I need to do to mine: 21' Nordic, 454 (only about 500hp), T-400, 15% gears, 13x14 Kindsvater prop, 5300 rpm. I don't want any more than 5800 rpm...
I need to cut that prop down at least to 12 1/2.

Bob - what's the 3rd water pickup on your cavitation plate for?
1) Sea Strainer 1 for waterpump, motor, superchiller
2) Sea Strainer 2 for oil cooler, transmission cooler and V-drive jacket cooler
3) Ballast tank pickup???
