I'm putting together a 454 .30 over to put in my next project boat. 2X4 Tunnel ram, 1.7 roller rockers, pretty much stock heads, mild cam. Probably end up around 9.5:1. You guys think 2 600cfm carbs would be right for this motor?

i think that would be too much carb.

Had basically the same setup before in a ski boat, a pair of 400 vacuum secondaries worked good!..
600 cfm what? double pumpers or vac secondary. Properly jetted 660 center squirters will work great on a boat with easier flowing exhaust and a mild cam.I have done this and been very happy with the outcome. Motors not to fat and jets are easy to change. M
What type of boat? Jet boat? What will your max RPM be at.
I anly ask due to the tunnle ram and dual carbs. What type of stock heads?
70's, 80's? oval or rect.
If they are stock 990's on a jet or v-drive the dual 600cfm should be perfect.
anything else the 400cfm
I/O loose the tunnle ram
Motor will be in a jet boat, max rpm of around 5500, stock oval port heads 70's vintage likely ..with log style through hulls( I know they are major horsepower robbers but I have them already and this build is for re-sale)....thinking of using the edelbrock performer 600's....maybe jet them down as small as they will go. Thanx for all the feedback guys.
Put them on there right out of the box. They will run fine. Myself, I would rather run a couple of Holley 600 vac. secondarys. Maybe even less $$$. I think the Holleys look better on a tunnel ram. Just my .02.
For that setup i would just run a single carb and good intake manifold.
