    How bad does a shaft have to be before it's no good? This shaft is marred ,I can feel the indent but you can see it's not deep.

    If that's the packing area, it will be fine. The only way that would cause a problem is if you planning to use the DPS style packing seal.

    The new style packings will seal just fine, but as heatseeker said, The DPS seal may have some issues sealing. The older style packing with the wire inside them really cut the shafts up.

    I replaced the shaft just because it was out and I wanted to make sure everything was new. I've been told that this shaft was just fine and would have worked for a long time. So I may put it up for sale on ebay.
